Care Ministry Coordinator

Ebenezer Baptist Church (Saskatoon, SK)

Ebenezer Baptist Church (EBC) in Saskatoon, SK is currently seeking for a relational, godly, administratively-minded, and mature, ¼ time Care Ministry Coordinator to primarily care for those in our church family.

Our mission as a church is to point people to Jesus and help them to know and follow him.

Our vision is to establish and multiply multi-ethnic and multi-generational gatherings of Jesus followers who practically and authentically live their faith in every part of their lives and challenge others to do the same. We do this through a process called discipleship. We define a disciple as someone who abides in Christ and takes on the character, ways, and mission of Jesus and helps others to do the same.

We are a community-minded, outreach-focused and forward-thinking church that actively seeks the Lord in prayer for spiritual discernment and ministry direction. We place a high value on family and on team ministry.

Candidates must be willing to connect and interact with people that are facing various challenges in their lives, and to help coordinate pastors and other volunteers to minister to them in various ways. Ebenezer is a well-established, multiethnic, multi-generational and growing church body. Candidates must have the ability to multiply disciple-makers with parents and families, understand how to spiritually invest in kids, and be relational in connecting with people.

Qualifications

  • Personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

  • Character qualities of a biblical elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9.

  • Love for the word of God and a devotion to prayer.

  • Proven ability to relate well with others.

  • Proven ability to organize volunteers and help coordinate others around serving.

  • Demonstrate spiritual aptitude in hearing and following God's voice.

  • Collaborative team player with a servant heart.

  • Demonstrate success in sharing the good news of Jesus and bearing spiritual fruit.

  • Agrees with the Statement of Faith shared by Ebenezer Baptist and the Baptist General Conference of Canada. (BGCC)

Job Description

A Care Ministry Coordinator will primarily be expected to provide leadership and vision over our Care Ministry at EBC and form teams of volunteers to minister to others. Primary responsibilities of the coordinator will be to handle any benevolent requests that come to the church via the pastoral staff, coordinate the annual Christmas Hampers and Blessing Tree ministries, help coordinate volunteers and take on some responsibilities with funerals alongside other support staff, and help coordinate our Griefshare program with our current leaders. Secondarily, as there are people in our church that are dealing with brokenness, sickness and pain, the coordinator would act as a ‘first responder’ or coordinate someone to connect with people via phone or in person, bringing a card or gift, and prayer. Hospital visits could be part of the role and/or meeting people at the homes, where appropriate.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Administratively coordinate our Care Ministry programs and envision the ministry to others, rallying volunteers where necessary.

  2. Field all benevolent requests brought to the church, and coordinate meeting those requests.

  3. Coordinate the assembly, putting together and delivery of our Christmas Hampers and Blessing Tree ministries alongside our current volunteer teams.

  4. As funerals happen, help serve and/or potentially coordinate the administrative components of the funeral to serve the bereaved family.

  5. Work with our current Griefshare leaders to coordinate any needs for them so they can meet together with those grieving.

  6. Be a ‘first responder’ to those who have lost loved ones or are in the hospital, and connect with them, bringing a card and be willing to pray with/for them.

Secondary Responsibilities

  1. As time permits and scheduling allows, the Care Ministry Coordinator may be asked to help our Events Coordinator with administrative or practical needs for other church-wide ministry events.
