Ebenezer Baptist Church (EBC) in Saskatoon, SK is currently seeking for a godly, relational, and visionary, full-time Discipleship Pastor to guide in the discipleship and spiritual equipping of our greater church family.

Our mission as a church is to point people to Jesus and help them to know and follow him.

Our vision is to establish and multiply multi-ethnic and multi-generational gatherings of Jesus followers who practically and authentically live their faith in every part of their lives and challenge others to do the same. We do this through a process called discipleship. We define a disciple as someone who abides in Christ and takes on the character, ways, and mission of Jesus and helps others to do the same.

We are a community minded, outreach focused and forward-thinking church that actively seeks the Lord in prayer for spiritual discernment and ministry direction. We place a high value on family and on team ministry.

Candidates must be someone of godly character, understand fundamentals of discipling, committed to discipleship, and able to lead others. They must have the ability to make disciples and multiply disciple-makers, willing to spiritually invest in multiple generations, and be relational in connecting with people.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.

  • Character qualities of a biblical elder as described in first Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9.

  • Love for the word of God and a devotion to prayer.

  • Demonstrate spiritual aptitude in hearing and following God's promptings.

  • Be a collaborative team player with a servant heart.

  • Demonstrate success in sharing the good news of Jesus and bearing spiritual fruit.

  • Bible school or seminary training (Or a combination of education and experience will be considered).

  • Agrees with the statement of faith, our positional statements on Gender & Sexuality, as well as Marriage shared by Ebenezer Baptist and the Baptist General Conference of Canada (BGCC).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Discipleship Pastor will help the staff team to keep discipleship at the center of all that we do. They will lead and develop our Life Group Ministry by recruiting new Life Group leaders, helping new groups to launch, and by investing into the current Life Group leaders so they learn to be a disciple and to disciple others. They will coordinate all our Equipping Ministry seminars through the year and work alongside of our staff team to provide teaching and training to our church family and community. The position would include coordinating gatherings for training, teaching, and coaching disciplers and leaders.

This being a full-time role, there would be some general pastoral responsibilities to carry the ministry load alongside of the other pastoral team members such as preaching, pastoral care, funerals, weddings, and participating in other church-wide gatherings.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overseeing Discipling initiatives for the church family. This would include:

    • Recruiting Life Group Leaders

    • Equipping Life Group Leaders

    • Facilitating the launch of new Life Groups

    • Inspiring discipling relationships and Life Groups in the greater church family

  • Coordinating the Equipping Ministries for the church family & community while providing teaching and discipleship where needed. This would be done in collaboration with others on the staff team and volunteers, and would include but not be limited to the following gatherings:

    • Newcomer, Baptism, and Membership Luncheons (3 per year)

    • Alpha (2 per year)

    • Foundations of Faith Seminar (1 per year)

    • Spiritual Gifts Seminar (1-2 per year)

    • Break Free Seminar (1 per year)

    • Bible Overview Seminar (1 per year)

    • The Gospel & Missional Living Training (1 per year)

  • Pastoral care in the church family.

  • Regular duties of full-time pastoring including performing weddings, funerals, and leading prayer and announcements at gatherings.

  • Being willing to preach on the preaching team.

Ebenezer Baptist Church is a vibrant and growing church with a rich history of ministry. Our average weekly attendance is approximately 900-1100 with a median age of about 35. We are a well-established, multiethnic, multi-generational and growing church body. We are especially blessed to have many young families, college students, young people and children who call Ebenezer their home. Including in-person and our online community, we have approximately 1300 people in our church family.

We highly value our local community and have been an active participant in it. We also are committed to reaching the nations in Saskatoon and have four partner congregations (Arabic, Korean, Nepali, and the House for All Nations) and a growing Ukrainian community.
